Project Description:

 

OVERVIEW:

Abi Civil were engaged to complete the stage 11 work of New Air Combat Capability (NACC) at RAAF Base Williamtown including Biofiltration installation and carpark construction.


SCOPE:

  • Removal of temporary seal – 700m2
  • Kerb demolition and removal
  • Install RCP stormwater biofiltrations
  • Line marking
  • Subgrade Preparation
  • Insitu electrical pits
  • Castellated Kerb and Gutter Installation
  • Topsoil placement



CHALLENGES:

  • High water table with contamination
  • Live defence base
  • Unstable ground condition
  • Tight program



HOW THESE WERE OVERCOME:

Abi Civil was able to mobilise experienced crews and plants within one week of award of contract.

The experience crews assigned to the project quickly identified unsuitable areas and mitigated the area in accordance with the client’s instruction promptly.

Abi Civil regularly adjusted the construction program and methodology statement to facilitate the onsite changes and needs of the clients.

Regular liaison with the client and other contractors proactively in the work area was required, and works were staged in an efficient manner so areas could be handed over to our client incrementally.

OVERALL PROJECT PERFORMANCE:

The project was successfully delivered by Abi Civil on time.

Abi Civil maintained outstanding safety performance during construction with 0 Lost Time and Medical Treatment Injuries recorded.
