KIRRIBILLI POINT RESTABILISATION – STAGE 2

OVERVIEW:

Abi Civil were engaged to a construction package of Kirribilli Point Battery Precinct Re-Stabilisation project including earthworks, conduit installation and FRP works.

SCOPE:

• Oversite Excavation
• Utility Investigation and Relocation
• Silt fencing Installation
• Fig Tree Stump Removal
• Installation of Hoardings and Scaffold
• Excavation for New retaining wall
• Installation of Waterproofing
• Footings and Retaining Walls

CHALLENGES:

• Live ongoing design
• Significant unknown utilities embedded in tree roots
• All aspects of work contained heritage constraints
• Site location involved constructing access road

HOW THESE WERE OVERCOME:

Abi Civil was able to mobilise experienced crews and plants within one week of award of contract.

Abi Civil also applied detailed planning to ensure all compliant heritage items were well protected prior to work commencement.

A temporary work design was conducted for formwork due to the close proximity to heritage location and no sufficient bracing spacing.

Abi Civil regularly adjusted the construction program and methodology statement to facilitate the design changes and needs of the client.

Regular liaison with the client and other contractors & consultants (Archaeologist, Architects, Geotech & Heritage engineers) proactively in the work area was required and works staged in an efficient manner so areas can be handed over to our client incrementally.
